Central Florida's Lake Okeechobee Bass Fishing Report |
December 2004
|
March 2005 |
What a week it has been. The fishing continues
to be fantastic on the big lake. Although the fish seem to be limited to the
south end of the lake, and the fishing pressure is getting tremendous, the
fish continue to be very cooperative. I have had days of no less than 30
fish a day, and most of the time upwards of that number by many more. It is
so, that sometimes, if we make a cast, and don't get a bite, we start
wondering what is going on. On yesterdays guide trip, we had fish the we 6
pounds 11, ounces, 7 pounds 5 ounces, and a 9 pound 1 ounce monster. Along
with several in the 3 to 4 pound range. I have been fishing in the Bay Bottom area, along with everyone else on the lake it seems, and have been concentrating on the bulrush patches. The fish have been biting live shiners, watermelon/red flukes, Junebug senko type worms ( I like the "Oh Son" brand), but the Tiki sticks are also working. We also had some very nice bites on Rattle traps. Small 1/4 ounce, blue/silver. I haven't heard any reports from anywhere else on the lake, but I am going up to the north shore tomorrow to look around. There have been a lot of crappie caught behind the east wall in Clewiston. The area is getting a lot of pressure, so I don't know how long it will hold out. |
